Australian trampoline pair bounces to gold at age worlds
- Updated: December 15, 2015
Australian competitors were left jumping for joy after their performances at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Age championships in Denmark.
The Aussies completed a golden run at one of their most successful campaigns during the 24th edition of the event in Odense.
New South Wales pair Kira Ward and Ethan McGuiness were crowned world age champions in their respective events, the girls’ under-17 double mini trampoline, and the boys’ under-15 tumbling trampoline.
Overall the Australia team, which comprised 28 athletes contesting 22 events, reached the finals in 10 events across all four days of competition, as well as having three athletes named as reserve finalists for their respective events.
The World Age Competition wraps up a successful campaign in Denmark for the Australian Trampoline Team.
Following the senior team’s best performance at a world championships since 1996 the week prior – which included a bronze medal and securing Australia a position in the Rio Test Event – Gymnastics Australia says we look on track to rise up the world rankings in the 2017-2020 Olympic cycle.
